Philosophy Study Group

For the past 10 years, Philosophy Study Groups have been coordinated by Doerthe Braun and Nazli Weiss, with the encouragement and support of John Schumacher. These groups began at Unity Woods and transitioned to Zoom during the Covid pandemic. We have deeply dived into classical ancient texts like the Bhagavad Gita and the Yoga Sutras.

Our most recent philosophical study focused on the Upanishads. The accompanying blog was compiled from multiple commentaries and sources on the ten major Upanishads, offering a guide for yoga practitioners and study group participants to explore the depth of this wisdom teaching.

The philosophy presented in the Upanishads and summarized in the blog reflects one of the higher interpretations of the practice of Yoga. We hope that engaging with the blog and the original texts will deepen your understanding and appreciation for The Beads of Wisdom—the Minor Upanishads. This will be the focus of our next Study Group starting January 7, 2025. *
